That Afternoon

Walking past the deli on 59th street that girl noticed that someone was following her. She had been living in New York for the past three months now so she already has the usual stalkers and is quite used to it; there are here friends who like to scare her and random guys (but they are always the same) who have an interest in her but have not tried to touch her in any way.

The first time she realized someone was following her it was one of the usual random guys who had found an interest in her. She didn't feel afraid when she had the feeling the first time or any of the times after that but this feeling is different from the others.

"This is different," she thought. "What do I do? Do I turn around or just glance over my shoulder naturally? This street is fairly busy, maybe I won't see who I'm looking for. Who am I looking for?"

That girl thought puzzledly to her self. Who would she be looking for. How can she tell who is following her on the crowed streets of New York City.

"Should I go down a fairly empty street and quickly glance back after a few steps or should I just ignore it until I get to Dani's house."

That girl thought aimlessly while walking. The fear she had felt had disappeared and she ignored the feeling of wondering why it had disappeared. She never once consciously thought whether the person stopped following her or maybe they stopped sending a threatening vibe.

"Can someone send and stop sending threatening vibes", she said aloud.

At Dani's house she expressed her feeling to her and the theories she was even shocked she could come up with.

"Maybe we watched way too many movies since we met. Your starting to sound crazy." Dani expressed while massaging that girls shoulders.
"Yeah you're right, maybe we have. hahaha. I didn't even know I couldn't come up with those kind of theories", she laughed in response to Dani.

Yet the uneasy feeling filled the air between the two of them and there was silence until Desmond walked in and they went about their day as usual. Neither told Desmond of the feeling that passed between them and neither wanted to.

The Morning Start

"Today is going to be a long day", that girl thought "a long, long day."

Laying in the queen sized bed she bought online at the Sleepy's website, she twisted and turned and then stopped. Getting out of bed is a hard thing to do, so instead of getting out of bed the girl stayed in a little while longer reminiscing on what remained in her memory of her dream. Her mind started wandering to many places. Then she twisted again. Laying on her right side she thought of places she would like to travel to. Starring out of the window, watching the leaves blow in the wind, she thought she could hear it going 'swoosh swoosh swoosh' and listening to the few birds sing their song she thought of the people she would like to meet. Things to say. Scratching her head, and twisting to her left she thought of the things to do. Many many many things. And then the alarm went off.

"Ah!", the girl shouted in frustration, "its already 6o'clock. I guess I woke up before my alarm again. What is that thing people say about internal alarms? It's so frustrating sometimes. I don't even know I set the alarm in the first place."As she was getting out of bed, the girl wondered about the saying. She threw her right leg over her left so that her right foot was the first to touch the cold floor and then twisted so that she almost fell out of bed. She neatly made up her bed. A force of habit to keep her bed all neat and pristine. A habit she had learned from her nagging mother. Walking towards the bathroom, her bare feet stumbled and slid against the cold wooden floor as if she where drunk. Drunk from her sleep that is. The sun had just started to get up and the way her room was set up, there was no way for to flick on the light switch as easy as she would hope.

"Maybe I should get one of those clap on, clap off things. Or a remote at least. One of those universal remotes", the girl thought while she walked towards the bathroom.

"Watch my face, brush my teeth, comb my hair, and look pretty for this new day." A mantra she shouted as she walked through the halls. Growing up with four sisters and five brothers was hard enough, but living alone is even harder. It had become a habit of hers to fight her way to the bathroom. She had to be the first up before anyone else to get what she needed done. Before she was bombarded and rushed out of the bathroom by one of her brothers or fighting to get mirror space with one of her sisters.

You see this girl moved away from the hustle and bustle in her chaotic household with her chaotic family, and is now living in a two-bedroom apartment with her first friend. A cat she met while roaming the streets of New York. She was lost and trying to find her way to the Empire State building. Since it was her first time in New York she decided to do some basic site seeing: 1) get to know the area, 2) see all the important places, 3) taste all of the food, 4) find a cheaper apartment.

The first site on her list was the Empire State building and the only thing she got right in her quest was getting off at the right stop. But the poor girl had never seen a good picture of the Empire State building and all the buildings looked the same but fancy and special in their own way. So she passed the Empire several times in her quest for it and when she was about to go back home to her cousins apartment, she met her first friend. She named the cat Mr. Whiskers because of his long whiskers. He seemed friendly enough and he was definitely determined for a relationship with the girl since he followed her all the way home. Unfortunately he cousins apartment didn't accept pets so Mr. Whiskers stayed outside the first couple of nights until she could find a cheap apartment in the city that allowed pets. Surprisingly she met a decent man, who would be her landlord, and he gave her what she described as the prefect apartment.

"Watch, watch, watch my face. Brush, brush, brush my teeth. Comb, comb, comb my hair and look pretty for the day out there!" The girl sang her silly little song happily.

And then it was time to get dressed for the day. As usual the girl threw everything she owned onto the bed and the floor thinking, "I love these pants but I love this dress". Rummaging through her dresser she thought, "I like this shirt the most, it has my favorite cartoon character." Indecision plagued her as if it was a game. She finally decided what to wear and then her day began.........
